ADHD & Executive Dysfunction
Adults and children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and/or with executive dysfunction may experience a variety of difficulties on a day to day basis including: struggling with initiating and completing tasks, paying attention to detail, impaired ability to follow directions and more.
Adult OT Services
Aging and changes in health can impact our ability to perform day-to-day tasks including taking care of ourselves, taking care of our home, and our involvement in activities. Occupational Therapy (OT) is used to help identify ways to remain active at home and in the community.
Cancer Survivorship
If you are a cancer survivor and are experiencing changes in thinking, memory, and/or decision-making; get distracted; cannot quite remember something although it’s on the tip of your tongue; occupational therapy may be a good fit for you.
Children, Youth, and Family (CYF)
Whether it’s helping students develop the skills they need to perform schoolwork and succeed in the classroom or working with kids in the clinic, home, or community setting, our clinicians are trained to address a wide variety of needs within each of these environments and tailor the treatment to best meet each child and family’s goals.
Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (CST) and iCST
Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (CST) is an evidence-based program for people with mild to moderate dementia. The program involves group or individual sessions of themed activities that exercise various cognitive skills.
Community Accessibility
Our community accessibility team examines residential and commercial buildings to evaluate ease of access for persons with a disability. They look at factors such as ramp dimensions, door width, turning radius for a wheelchair, and other contributors to accessibility.
Comprehensive Behavior Intervention for Tics (CBIT)
Comprehensive Behavior Intervention for Tics (CBIT) is a non-drug treatment that teaches strategies to patients with tic disorders to help them reduce and better manage tics. CBIT may also benefit persons with Autism and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.
Driving evaluation and rehabilitation services
A comprehensive driving evaluation by an Occupational Therapist can determine whether you have the skills and abilities to drive safely. These evaluations will include the clinical testing of vision, motor, cognitive skills, on-road assessment, and recommendation meetings.
Functional Neurological Disorder (FND)
Adults and children with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) and/or Conversion Disorder may experience a variety of difficulties on a day-to-day basis. WashU OT FND treatment will focus on education, collaborative coaching and adapting strategies for your daily environment to help you best manage your FND symptoms.
